A chilling new photo has revealed the final moments of Texas mother Caroline “Caro” Peña, who was fatally stabbed in a violent daylight attack in the border city of Del Rio.

Peña, 32, a mother of five, died Thursday night after she was allegedly attacked by three women, including sisters Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, 19, and Kitty Mia Diaz, 21. A third woman, Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, has also been charged in connection with the killing.
The disturbing image, reportedly taken moments after Peña was stabbed, shows her standing in a grassy area with blood soaking the back of her pink T-shirt. Several women can be seen nearby, including two whose clothing appears to match descriptions later included in police documents.
Photo Shows Peña After Alleged Stabbing

According to the criminal complaint, surveillance footage showed Amaya Diaz wearing a red tank top and blue jeans, while Kitty Diaz was seen in a pink tank top and blue jeans. Kitty was also identified by tattoos covering her right arm.
The new photo appears to show Peña standing near the women after the attack, visibly injured but still on her feet.
It was not immediately clear whether the third woman seen in the image, wearing a gray T-shirt, was Faz.
A man in the photo appears to have his arms around Amaya Diaz’s shoulders, while Peña is seen facing and speaking to another man. That man may have been her nephew, who reportedly drove her from the scene to a local hospital.
The image was reportedly uploaded to a local community Facebook page, but was removed after Peña died from her injuries at a hospital in San Antonio around 9 p.m. Thursday.
Friend Says Peña “Was a Fighter”
Peña’s longtime friend, Zelina Ochoa, said the photo showed the mother’s strength in the moments after the attack.
“She had just collapsed and she stood right back up,” Ochoa said.
She described the image as powerful because Peña appeared to be unarmed while the women accused in the attack allegedly arrived with weapons.
“It shows, you know, these three girls showed up with their weapons and Caro showed up with nothing but her hands,” Ochoa said.

Police Say Victim Knew Accused Killers
Del Rio Police Chief Frank Ramirez said Peña knew the women accused in her death, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been publicly explained.
Police have not released a motive, and the case remains under investigation.
According to the criminal complaint, Faz told investigators that Peña had arrived at her residence “looking to start a fight.” Soon after, the Diaz sisters allegedly arrived at the home in a black Chrysler 300.
Surveillance footage cited in the complaint allegedly shows Amaya Diaz getting out of the passenger seat and confronting Peña while holding an object police believe was a knife.
The complaint states that Amaya then struck Peña in the back, where blood began soaking her shirt.
Kitty Diaz and Faz then allegedly joined in and beat Peña before running from the scene.
Sisters Seen Smiling After Arrest
About two hours after the attack, Amaya and Kitty Diaz were taken into custody.
Video recorded outside the sisters’ home showed Kitty being escorted barefoot into a patrol car while briefly smiling. Amaya was also seen smiling and laughing as she was led away in handcuffs, at one point telling the person filming to stop recording.
The footage sparked outrage online, especially as Peña’s friends and family mourned the loss of a mother whose children are now left without her.
Three Women Charged With First-Degree Murder
Amaya “Cookie” Diaz, Kitty Mia Diaz and Kyandra Renee Faz are each charged with first-degree murder.
During their first court appearance Friday, a judge set bond at $5 million for each woman. All three requested court-appointed attorneys.
The charges remain allegations, and the women have not been convicted.
For Peña’s loved ones, the image of her standing after the attack has become a painful reminder of her final moments — and, to those who knew her, a symbol of the fight she showed until the end.
