Josh Duggar Moves to Fourth Prison in 5 Years as Lawyer Claims Transfers Are ‘Retaliation’

Josh Duggar has been moved to yet another federal prison, marking the fourth facility he has been housed in since his arrest — and his attorney is questioning whether the repeated transfers are being used as punishment.

The move comes after Duggar’s attorney, Beau Brindley, accused prison officials of retaliating against his client following complaints about alleged issues inside the federal prison system.

Duggar’s journey through the prison system began after his 2021 arrest and 2022 conviction for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. He was sentenced to 151 months — more than 12 years — in federal prison, with his projected release date currently set for February 2033.

Josh Duggar's Motion to Vacate Conviction Denied by Judge: 'Not Credible'Before his latest move, Duggar was held at FCI Seagoville in Texas, where his legal team claimed problems began.

Brindley alleges correctional officers at Seagoville improperly accessed Duggar’s legal mail. According to the attorney, after Duggar raised the issue during a court hearing, prison staff informed him that he would be transferred.

The lawyer also claimed Duggar was impacted by the removal of his approved contact list, leaving him unable to communicate with certain people.

After leaving Seagoville, Duggar was briefly moved to FMC Fort Worth — a facility that provides medical and mental health services for inmates. The transfer sparked speculation about his health, but Brindley insisted his client was not ill and did not require medical housing.

The Bureau of Prisons has not confirmed that Duggar’s transfers were connected to his attorney’s accusations, stating that inmate relocations can happen for multiple reasons, including security, medical needs, or institutional management.

Meanwhile, Duggar has also suffered a setback in his legal efforts to overturn his conviction. A federal judge recently rejected his appeal attempt, ruling that his filing was submitted too late and calling parts of his explanation for the delay not credible.

Duggar remains behind bars while continuing his legal fight and serving the sentence tied to his federal conviction.
