Rapper Sexyy Red is caught in the middle of a legal battle after claiming that hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of luxury items were stolen during what was supposed to be a private family celebration.
The “Get It Sexyy” artist, whose real name is Janae Wherry, revealed details of the alleged burglary through court documents connected to an ongoing lawsuit involving her former security guard.
According to the filing, Sexyy Red rented a luxury mansion in Florida in January 2025 for a special “birthday retreat” celebrating her mother. The gathering was meant to be a private getaway with family and friends, but the celebration reportedly turned into a major financial loss.
The rapper said she hired security guard Carl Thompson to protect everyone at the property. She claims Thompson requested additional security personnel, and his request was approved so the event would have better protection.
However, on Jan. 12, 2025, the situation allegedly took a shocking turn when a masked individual entered the mansion through an unlocked door while Sexyy Red and her guests were away enjoying activities on yachts.
The lawsuit claims the thief walked into the property and stole approximately $500,000 worth of valuables.
Among the items allegedly taken were expensive necklaces, charms, rings, bracelets, watches and designer handbags.
Sexyy Red’s legal team claims the loss happened because Thompson failed to properly secure the rental property. The rapper’s representatives argue that he was responsible for protecting the home and should have ensured the doors and security measures were properly handled.
A spokesperson for Sexyy Red said the rapper immediately ended Thompson’s employment after the incident.
“Mr. Thompson was responsible for securing the property, however, failed in his duties to do so,” the statement said.
But Thompson is pushing back against the accusations.
His attorney denied that the security guard had anything to do with the burglary and argued that police investigated the matter but did not charge him.
The attorney claims the lawsuit is connected to a separate financial dispute between Thompson and Sexyy Red.
Before the burglary allegations became public, Thompson had filed a lawsuit against the rapper and her management company, claiming he was owed $80,500 in unpaid wages from 2023.
Sexyy Red later filed a counterclaim accusing him of negligence in connection with the stolen property.
Her legal team claims that after the burglary, a private investigator was hired to examine what happened. The filing alleges Thompson later failed a polygraph examination, though those claims remain disputed.
Thompson’s side has argued that he did not have control over the property and should not be held responsible for the theft.
The legal fight has continued as both sides accuse the other of using the court system to gain leverage.
While the case unfolds, Sexyy Red has also been dealing with personal challenges, including mourning the loss of close friend and producer Tay Keith.
The burglary remains a disputed matter, with no criminal charges filed against Thompson and both sides preparing to continue their legal battle over the alleged theft and unpaid wages.
