The unsettling case of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, has taken a troubling turn as authorities now classify her disappearance as a potential crime. The 84-year-old was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, Arizona, where police discovered alarming signs that suggest she did not leave voluntarily.
Nancy was reportedly last seen around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday evening, and her family became concerned when she failed to attend church services the following morning. A church member alerted her family, prompting them to contact law enforcement. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos held a press conference on Monday, stating, “We know she didn’t just walk out of there. She did not leave on her own.”
Officials revealed that Nancy, who has limited mobility, left behind essential items, including her medication, keys, and phone. “Her stuff was left behind at the house: keys, ID, purse, phone, everything,” a source close to the family shared. Sheriff Nanos emphasized that Nancy is of sound mind, dispelling any notions that her disappearance could be related to cognitive decline.

Investigators are currently analyzing her cellphone for clues and have urged the community to assist in the search. “Time is very critical,” Nanos warned, noting that Nancy requires daily medication that could be life-threatening if not taken.

Savannah, who has been a prominent co-host on the “Today” show since 2011, has remained in Tucson during this distressing time. She did not appear on Monday’s broadcast, instead releasing a heartfelt statement thanking the public for their support and urging anyone with information to reach out to the authorities.
As the search intensifies, the family remains hopeful for Nancy’s safe return. With the investigation still unfolding, many are left wondering what could have happened in those crucial hours.
