Merab Dvalishvili has made his intentions perfectly clear regarding his next UFC appearance. The former bantamweight champion says he has no interest in facing any opponent other than reigning champion Petr Yan and is prepared to wait as long as necessary for the trilogy bout.
Despite receiving questions about possible alternative matchups, Dvalishvili insisted that reclaiming the bantamweight title remains his only objective. He believes he has earned another shot at Yan after their previous encounters and doesn’t want to risk delaying that opportunity by accepting another fight.
Although there is still no official date for the championship rematch, Dvalishvili says he’s staying active in training and remains ready whenever the UFC finalizes the booking. He acknowledged that the timeline is largely in the champion’s hands but remains confident the fight will eventually happen.
For now, Dvalishvili is willing to be patient rather than compete against another contender. His focus hasn’t changed—he wants Petr Yan, the bantamweight belt, and nothing else.
