His mother, Titania Davenport, and father, Kenneth Ball, are at odds over how to allocate the money stemming from the legal battle regarding their son’s untimely death.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal the deepening rift between Takeoff’s parents as they navigate the aftermath of his murder. Titania asserts that she shared a close and nurturing bond with her son throughout his life, emphasizing her role as a single parent who provided him with financial support from birth until he became an adult.
She claims that even as Takeoff launched his music career, she remained a pillar of support, and in turn, he generously supported her financially. According to Titania, Takeoff went above and beyond, purchasing her a home, cars, and covering her living expenses. In stark contrast, she argues that Kenneth was largely absent during Takeoff’s life, offering minimal financial and emotional support.
On the other side, Kenneth contends that despite his absence, he is entitled to half of the settlement funds. He believes that Texas is the appropriate jurisdiction to resolve this dispute, as the wrongful death case has reached a settlement.
Titania, however, argues for Georgia to be the proper venue for the case, especially now that the Texas lawsuit has concluded. The judge overseeing the matter has yet to make a ruling, leaving the family in limbo.
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirshnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot on November 1, 2022, at just 28 years old, outside a bowling alley in Houston while with his uncle and fellow Migos member, Quavo. A man named Patrick Xavier Clark has been charged in connection with his murder and is expected to go to trial later this year.
