A birthday celebration turned tragic in Orlando, Florida, when a domestic dispute escalated into a 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 act of violence. On the night of April 15, 2023, Richard Raczkowski allegedly shot his girlfriend, Allison Marie Sheehan, four times in the back, leaving a community in mourning and a young boy without his mother.
The evening began with joy as friends and family gathered to celebrate the sixth birthday of their son. However, as the party wound down, tensions between Richard and Allison reportedly flared. At around 10:25 p.m., Richard sent a chilling text to his father, claiming, “I just shot Allison.” Initially met with disbelief, his father urged him to call 911, but Richard did not comply.
Instead, he waited for his father to arrive, showing little urgency. Upon his father’s arrival, Richard led him to the master bedroom, where Allison lay unresponsive. It was only then that 911 was finally called, more than two hours after the initial message. Responding officers quickly established a perimeter around the home, fearing for the safety of a child reportedly still inside.
As law enforcement approached, they called for anyone inside to come out with their hands raised. Richard eventually exited the house, where he appeared calm despite the gravity of the situation. Officers found Allison suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and despite immediate medical attention, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators uncovered a chaotic scene in the bedroom, including an unloaded firearm and spent shell casings. Remarkably, their six-year-old son was found unharmed. Richard was taken into custody without incident, but his demeanor raised eyebrows. He exhibited a troubling nonchalance, making statements that suggested a lack of remorse.

In the days that followed, Richard attempted to frame the incident as self-defense, claiming that Allison had attacked him. However, the physical evidence contradicted his narrative. The autopsy revealed that Allison had been shot in the back, raising serious questions about Richard’s version of events.
Initially charged with first-degree murder, Richard’s charges were later reduced to second-degree murder, a decision that left Allison’s family devastated. Her brother, Dennis Castaneda, expressed his heartache, emphasizing the loss of a loving mother to a young boy who now faces life without her.
On December 20, 2024, Richard pled guilty to second-degree murder, receiving a 25-year minimum sentence. While this may seem significant, for Allison’s family, it feels insufficient. The legacy of Allison Sheehan lives on in the memories of those who loved her and in the heart of her son, who must now navigate a world forever changed. What does justice truly mean in a situation like this?
