Jeffrey Epstein’s Former Cellmate Claims He Stopped Him From Dying Twice Before His Death

Nearly seven years after Jeffrey Epstein was found dead inside a Manhattan jail cell, shocking new details are emerging about the convicted sex offender’s final weeks behind bars.

According to a recent report, Epstein’s former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, says he witnessed Epstein attempting to take his own life multiple times before his death in August 2019. Tartaglione, a former police officer currently serving life sentences for murder, claims Epstein asked him how to make a noose and was later found with fabric wrapped around his neck on more than one occasion.

The former cellmate also alleges he discovered a handwritten note hidden beneath Epstein’s mattress after one of the incidents. The note, which remained sealed in court records for years before being released in 2026, reportedly contained statements suggesting Epstein wanted to choose the timing of his own death. However, officials have said the note has never been fully authenticated.

Court records show Epstein was placed on suicide watch after a July 2019 incident but was removed from the program just 31 hours later and transferred to psychiatric observation. Weeks afterward, on Aug. 10, 2019, he was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. His death was officially ruled a suicide by hanging.

The new revelations are reigniting debate over one of the most controversial deaths in recent history. While conspiracy theories have persisted for years, investigators and multiple government reviews have continued to maintain that Epstein died by suicide, though they acknowledged serious failures in the jail’s supervision and safety procedures.

For many, however, the unanswered questions remain. Why were warnings allegedly ignored? Why was a high-risk inmate left alone? And will the public ever know every detail of what happened during Jeffrey Epstein’s final days?
