Two of rapper Lil Durk’s co-defendants are asking a federal judge to separate their cases from his, arguing that newly added murder allegations could unfairly influence a jury against them.
According to court filings submitted on June 10, OTF DeDe (Deandre Wilson) and Browneyez (David Lindsey) renewed their request for separate trials after prosecutors filed a Third Superseding Indictment that expanded the scope of the case. The defendants claim the latest charges focus heavily on violent incidents they were not directly involved in, including multiple shootings and murders allegedly connected to what prosecutors describe as the Banks Gang Enterprise.
The indictment references four major incidents: a 2019 attempted murder in Atlanta, a 2021 attempted murder targeting Quando Rondo in Georgia, the 2022 killing of Stephon Mack in Chicago, and the Beverly Hills gas station shooting that resulted in the death of Lul Pab. Attorneys for DeDe and Browneyez argue that neither man is directly connected to several of these incidents and should not be forced to defend themselves alongside allegations centered on others.
Their legal team also challenged prosecutors’ reliance on music video footage showing cash and firearms, saying such imagery is common in hip-hop culture and does not prove criminal conduct. They contend that allowing all defendants to be tried together would expose jurors to extensive testimony about violent crimes allegedly tied to Lil Durk, creating an unfair risk of guilt by association.
The motion comes after a previous request for separate trials was denied earlier this year. However, defense attorneys argue that the return of the Chicago murder allegation significantly changes the case and strengthens their argument for severance.
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for July 1 before Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, federal prosecutors have indicated they remain on track for the currently scheduled trial date of August 20, 2026.
