Mom of Teen Boy Sexually Abused by Ex-Mayor at Drunken Party Slams Her at Sentencing as 'Predator with Hair Extensions'

In a 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 case that has captivated the nation, Misty Roberts, a former mayor from Louisiana, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after being found guilty of engaging in sexual acts with a 16-year-old boy. The courtroom was filled with emotion as the victim’s mother described Roberts as a “predator with hair extensions” during the sentencing hearing.

Roberts, 44, was convicted in March on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile, both serious felonies. She faced a potential sentence of up to 17 years but ultimately received a much lighter punishment on June 9. Along with her jail time, Roberts will be required to register as a 𝒔𝒆𝒙 offender, pay a hefty $5,000 fine, and undergo regular 𝒹𝓇𝓊𝑔 testing and psychological counseling after her release.

The victim’s mother did not hold back during her statement, emphasizing the lasting impact the incident has had on her son. “Every social event carried questions no teenager should have to ask… Half of his high school experience was taken from him,” she lamented, highlighting the emotional scars that linger long after the trial.

Roberts also took the stand, expressing remorse for her actions. “I blame myself then, I blame myself today, and I will blame myself for the rest of my life,” she said, acknowledging the disappointment she caused to many, including the victim’s family.

Prosecutors urged the judge to impose the maximum sentence, arguing that Roberts should not be given any leniency. Judge Kent Savoie acknowledged that Roberts had no prior criminal history before delivering the sentence. In a last-ditch effort, Roberts’ legal team sought a new trial just days before sentencing, citing inconsistencies in the victim’s testimony, but their request was denied.

The charges against Roberts stemmed from a pool party at her home in July 2024, where she was serving as mayor. Testimony revealed that the teenage boy had been drinking heavily that night, and he recounted how Roberts flirted with him before taking him upstairs. Disturbingly, a friend of Roberts allegedly instructed witnesses to “lie till you die,” and a DoorDash driver testified to delivering emergency contraceptive Plan B to Roberts’ residence following the incident.

In a twist of fate, Roberts resigned from her mayoral position just days before her arrest. This conviction comes on the heels of another troubling case involving her brother, Brandon Lee Roberts, who was sentenced to prison for separate child 𝒔𝒆𝒙 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮 charges.

As the community grapples with the fallout from this case, many are left wondering how such a betrayal could occur in their small town. What does this mean for the future of leadership in DeRidder?
