Finesse2tymes is reportedly attempting a dramatic career reset after publicly criticizing what he described as a restrictive music contract tied to J. Prince Jr., Mob Ties and Atlantic Records.
The Memphis rapper recently began releasing music under the name “2FithyRicky,” a move many fans believe is an attempt to work around contractual limitations connected to his original stage name.
The controversy exploded online after Finesse shared frustrations about his deal, calling it “modern-day slavery” and claiming the agreement limits how and where he can release music. According to the rapper, the contract allegedly functions as a 360 deal, meaning multiple parties receive percentages from nearly every source of income — including music sales, performances, merchandise and endorsements.
Finesse also claimed that advances for luxury purchases and business expenses must be recouped before he receives substantial royalty payments. He even revealed that he uploaded parts of the contract into ChatGPT to better understand the terms he had signed.
Now operating under the 2FithyRicky identity, the rapper has reportedly started independently uploading music online while teasing a project titled FDL, short for “Fukkh da Labels.”
The situation has sparked debate across Hip-Hop social media, with fans comparing the strategy to moments in music history where artists attempted to outmaneuver label restrictions by changing names or identities.
Meanwhile, reports suggest J. Prince Jr. has mocked the situation publicly, emphasizing that contracts and paperwork still carry legal weight regardless of any name change.
Whether the move actually helps Finesse escape his alleged contractual obligations remains unclear, but the entire saga has quickly become one of the most talked-about music industry disputes online.
